Configure the Ellipsoid Tab

The 3D Ellipsoid tab allows you to define the size of the ellipsoid associated with a variogram model. This size directly depends on the total range defined along the three main directions U, V, and W. The 3D visualization of the ellipsoid makes it possible to visually validate the rotation specified in the variogram model. The tab is only visible for the Continuity Models and Variogram Back Transformations components.

Activity Steps

1. Select the Data Component with associated 3D data from the Project Tree.
2. Select the 3D Viewer tab at the top of the Main Canvas.
3. Select the Ellispoid tab in the Property Panel.
4. Configure the following options as required.
   • Use Default Size – By default, the ellipsoid size is fixed by the total range defined along the three main directions. Uncheck the option to define your own ellipsoid size.
   • Size X/Y/Z – Enter the size to consider for the display of the ellipsoid. Click on the chain links to unlink the X/Y/Z values (X and Y are linked by the first icon and Y and Z are linked by the second). If the option is activated, values are set proportional, i.e. if you change one the others change in the same way.
